Preparing your patients for the Summer Season!

Nextmune

As summer approaches, it's essential for veterinarians to educate pet owners on the importance of sun protection and grooming during the warmer months. Just like humans, pets are susceptible to sunburn, heatstroke, and other seasonal hazards.

Sunscreen:

Many pet owners are unaware that their companions can suffer from sunburn and skin damage due to prolonged exposure to the sun's harmful UV rays. Veterinarians should recommend pet-safe sunscreen products specifically formulated for animals, as human sunscreens may contain ingredients that are toxic to pets if ingested. Advise pet owners to apply sunscreen to areas with sparse fur, such as the nose, ears, belly, and groin, before outdoor activities, especially during peak sun hours.

Nextmune provides 2 sun protection solutions, SunnerSkin® and Dermoscent® Sunfree.

Sunnerskin® is a high-SPF (50) sunscreen for dogs, cats and horses, with moisturising and water-repellent properties. Dermoscent® Sunfree is a high protection moisturising sun care (SPF 30+) made with 100% natural active ingredients. Both provide broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays, helping to prevent sunburn and skin damage. They are easy to apply and suitable for all skin types, making it an essential summer accessory.

Wipes for Quick Clean-Ups and Foam for coat hygiene:

With the summer heat comes increased outdoor activity, which often leads to muddy paws, dirty fur, and unwanted odors. Wipes and foams are a convenient and effective solution for quick clean-ups between baths, helping to remove dirt, debris, and allergens while refreshing the coat and skin. Pet owners should keep a pack of wipes and foam handy for on-the-go use after walks, hikes, or trips to the dog park, ensuring their pets stay clean and comfortable throughout the summer season.

Nextmune has a broad range of products for each situation:

CLX® wipes: with chlorhexidine, climbazole and Tris-EDTA. Perfect for pets with predisposition for mild to serious skin problems and microorganisms overgrowth.

Dermoscent® PYOclean® wipes: with natural ingredients and perfect for normal skin or to prevent skin problems.

Dermoscent® ATOP 7®  wipes: with natural ingredients and perfect for sensitive or allergic prone skin.

Dermoscent® Essential mousse®: very practical rinse-free cleansing care for the regular hygiene of dogs and small mammals (rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters). Perfect for dirty, greasy fur or bad odor.

Paw protection:

Hot pavement can burn pet's paw pads, leading to discomfort and injury. Protecting their paws with paw wax or balms designed to provide a barrier against hot surfaces is key during these months.

Thanks to its organic-certified ingredients, Dermoscent® Bio Balm® nourishes, protects, helps repair, and soothe the skin of dogs. This water-resistant balm is ideal for dry or damaged pads, but also nose, non-infected calluses, or interdigital areas.

Eye Cleaners:

Allergens, dust, pollen, and debris can irritate pets' eyes, leading to discomfort, redness, and discharge. Regular eye cleaning is essential for maintaining ocular health and preventing eye infections or irritations. Advise pet owners to use eye cleaners daily, particularly after outdoor activities or exposure to allergens, to keep their pets' eyes clear, bright, and healthy.

Discover Nextmune’s products, Iryplus®, an eye cleaner available in both drops and practical wipes that dissolve dried secretions on the skin around the eyes so they are easier to remove. It also moisturise the skin around the eyes and, very important, doesn’t sting.

Veterinarians play a crucial role in educating pet owners about summer safety and grooming practices. By proactively preparing patients for the summer season with sunscreen, wipes, and eye cleaners, veterinarians can help pet owners safeguard their pets against seasonal hazards and ensure their well-being and comfort all summer long.
